PCP: Yes to peace! No to NATO!

Statement from the Portuguese Communist Party

At the high-level meeting held in Brussels, with the participation of the US President and in a context of latent contradictions, NATO announces its aim of affirming its cohesion, namely on the growing involvement in wars of aggression —like in Afghanistan or in the Middle East— and in the arms and military race, conducted by the US, under the cover of the so-called “war on terrorism”.

While hypocritically proclaiming the “war on terrorism”, the US and its allies are responsible for the promotion, support and instrumentalization of terrorist groups in destabilization operations and wars of aggression against sovereign states, as in Syria.

The recent 110 billion dollar agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia to supply weapons assumes a shocking and dangerous significance, as the latter recognizably supports terrorists organizations and is responsible for the war against Yemen and its people.

ELEVEN times Tories didn’t know their numbers in #GE17

Tories are allowed to not know anything
They get a free pass from the Neocon press
Now, more than ever
We live in a fantastic crypto-fascist reality-world where fake-news is the force-fed drug

Short and sweet, this post. The media have gone crazy repeating one time Jeremy Corbyn had to look up one of the many numbers in Labour’s fully-costed manifesto. Labour has numbers to look up. The Tories’ manifesto has so few numbers (and no costings at all) that you’d think they couldn’t cock them up – but you’d be wrong.

torydunce.jpgHere are eleven times the Tories got their sums wrong – or couldn’t answer a simple question about their numbers at all:

tory cockups.jpgThe media want you to think one thing. The truth is very different – and it’s obvious as soon as you look beyond biased coverage.

If you want competence, honesty and thoughtful leadership, vote Labour on 8 June.

Essential 2m video shows clearly how Tories distort, smear to fool you #GE17

Invest in peace👏👏👏👏👏👏
Invest in hope❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

As is now well-known, the Tories have been trying to buy the election by paying YouTube to run adverts when someone clicks on a Labour-supporting video. Those ads are intensely, deliberately deceptive.

liarliar.jpgNow someone has turned the tables by taking the Tories’ ads and showing, simply and clearly, how they distort the truth by stripping out context and selective quoting.

In other words, how they lie to mislead you and treat you like a fool.

A SKWAWKBOX reader flagged this brilliant video in the comments on this blog. It’s a fraction over 2 minutes long and absolutely vital viewing.

The antidote to disinformation is good information. This is good information. Please watch and share widely:

The huge, hidden Tory #NHSBOGOF fire-sale #NaylorReport #GE17 #NHS

End of NHS

The SKWAWKBOX published a video this morning that an observer had created concerning the Naylor Report, which Theresa May said – without explaining – that she fully supported.

May treated it as if the ten billion pounds implementing Naylor will cost was an additional Tory investment in the NHS – but in fact, it’s the opposite. £10bn is the cost of forcingthe NHS to sell off its assets on a BOGOF (buy one get one free) basis at fire-sale prices to private companies.

Any NHS Trust that doesn’t participate in the sell-off will be forced to pay a penalty of 3.5% of the value of those assets at market rates – but market rates will not apply to assets sold.

You can watch the full video here, but at over 11 minutes long a lot of people were asking for a shorter version of…

Corbyn looked up a number – he HAD one to look up. May forgot where she was. #GE17

So, the media – predictably – are harping on about one moment in an interview where Jeremy Corbyn had to look up a number on childcare costs on his iPad while a Woman’s Hour interviewer badgered him.

Big deal – Labour’s manifesto is a huge and detailed document and nobody reasonable would expect someone to know every number by heart.

The interviewer, Emma Barnett, gave away her agenda by immediately making this an issue of trustworthiness:

Corbyn: Can I give you the exact figure in a moment, please?

EB: Is this not exactly the issue with people and the Labour Party.. – that we cannot trust you with our money?

The clear answer to that question is ‘no’ (or, more bluntly, ‘don’t be so stupid’).

Corbyn had a figure to look up – Labour’s manifesto is detailed and fully costed in every respect. If you go to…

May loves #NaylorReport. EVERYONE must see/share (video) #GE17 #NHS

The Naylor Report rings the Death Knell of our NHS

The SKWAWKBOX has been inundated over the last couple of days by people sending the link to a video, with messages to the effect of ‘you must do something with this’.

Having watched it, they’re absolutely right.

During her TV interview with Andrew Neil last week, Theresa May repeated her usual nonsense ad nauseam, but when asked about Tory plans for the NHS, she only talked about The Naylor Report.

may naylor.pngMay admits that implementing the Naylor Report will cost ten billion pounds – but she makes it sound like this is additional government investment in the NHS.

It is not – it’s £10bn of our money that Mrs May intends to spend on ‘accelerating’ a ‘BOGOF’ two-for-one fire sale of NHS buildings and land to private developers at knock-down prices. The plan will also charge hospital trusts millions if they don’t want to sell.

And – so far…

Tories and undecideds flock to Labour after #BattleForNumber10 #GE17

T May ‘No deal is better than a bad deal’

❌Platitudinous bullshit❌

If you’re watching BBC News or Sky News right now – or if you buy a right-wing newspaper on Tuesday morning, you might have the impression that Monday night’s ‘Battle for Number 10’ on Sky News and Channel 4 was a hard-fought draw or even a win for Theresa May. It really is getting stupidly transparent:

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

Theresa May was booed, jeered and laughed at by the audience and disgusted the normally impartial Paxman so deeply that he couldn’t help himself from giving his own, personal verdict on Theresa May:

May’s performance was so vague and unconvincing that she may henceforth be known forever as ‘The Waffle-iron Lady‘. So bad that…

Video: #Paxman gives PERSONAL verdict on May’s #BattleForNumber10 #GE17

Jeremy Paxman is a consummate professional who has been giving politicians a grilling (or roasting, if you’re Michael Howard) since 1993. He knows how to ask hard questions without compromising his impartiality as interviewer.

So tonight we saw something remarkable: Paxman being so underwhelmed by an interviewee that he let slip his own opinion – and boy was it brutal.

The Establishment media was already desperatelyspinning the event minutes after it finished to try to cover up May’s car-crash, but the truth will out – and ‘Paxo’ was the one to do the stuffing.

Paxman was interviewing Theresa May and, after giving May a thorough roughing up about her supposed suitability for Brexit negotiations that he said this:

Paxman is a pro. If he wanted to keep his own opinion out of the discussion, he could easily have said ‘Surely an EU negotiator…

6 questions May MUST answer this evening #BattleForNumber10 #AskMay

Voting for May, is a blind gamble by OAPs, when it comes to the Dementia Tax

Theresa May has run scared of even the notion of debate during this General Election campaign. The nearest she will get is this evening, when she will (!) be in the same building as Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn but will not debate.

Instead, she will face questions submitted by members of the public and then be questioned by Jeremy Paxman.

paxmanIt remains to be seen whether Paxman is the force he once was and will give her the same, relentless treatment he gave then-Tory leader Michael Howard, or will – as Andrew Neil did on the BBC last week – go easier on her than on her rival (though even then she came off far worse).

But it’s time for Theresa May – going against the grain as it will certainly be – to be straight with the British people on her plans for pensioners, working people and our…
